The Master Cleanse: Day 1
A few days ago I received an email touting the benefits of the Master Cleanse, a diet consisting only of water, maple syrup, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, salt, senna tea, mint tea, and cayenne pepper. After 10 days, my GI-tract will be cleansed of heavy metals, and I'll be free of those toxins I've been pumping into my system for the past few years - at least, some of them.
So I'm staying hydrated this morning. My first "meal" of the day was two teaspoons of salt in a quart of warm water, which I chugged. Forty-five minutes later I was evacuating this meal, and pretty much everything else in my bowels for the second time today. I will be stocking up the bathroom on candles, incense, reading materials, and ambiance for the remainder of this cleanse.
The lemonade is great, I'm going to try to go quart for quart with water to stay hydrated, and keep that cayenne flowing. The 'nade is like so:
1 part B-grade maple syrup
1 part fresh squeezed lemon juice
6 parts water
as much cayenne as you can take...start with a pinch.
I mixed all these up in a quart jar, and have been sipping on it for the past hour. It's refreshing, and it does the job of quenching my thirst, and a good deal of my hunger.
I feel energetic, but not hungry, just kind of antsy. I wonder if my body is adjusting to the change in energy source -- it's probably still reeling from all that salt earlier.
I feel good to great. I feel relaxed, rested, and ready to tackle the tasks for the rest of the day. Anyone hiring?
Here's the original email which set me on this - let me know if you would like more info.
"Hey everybody, sounds like many are interested in the cleanse and in knowing how it all works. It is pretty simple really, but must be done pretty specifically according to the plan to succeed at doing the whole thing and getting the maximum benefits/experience.
So here is the menu:
At night right before retiring: Senna Tea, such as Traditional Medicinals Smooth Move. This helps keeps things moving when there is no food to force waste through.
Upon awakening: Daily salt flush. This is a little wild, but very effective enima method. All you have to do is drink a quart of warm filtered water with 2 teaspoons of non-iodonized sea salt mixed in and then wait for about 45 minutes... Don't plan on being anywhere within an hour of taking your salt flush. The warmer the better in my experience, but chugging is also needed so it cannot be too hot to chug.
Now to the good part: Lemonade!
This is a 10 day lemonade cleanse. You freshly squeeze organic lemons throughout the day, adding organic grade b maple syrup, fresh filtered water (the better the water the better the cleanse), and ground cayenne pepper! The easiest way to remember the recipe is that it's equal 1 parts lemon and syrup to 4 parts water. Start with a pinch of cayenne and work your way hotter over the 10 days. You'll need between 3 and 5 quarts of this juice a day depending on how big/active you are.
The only other thing you can consume during the 10 days is organic mint teas and other chlorophyl supplements for binding toxins as they are excreted from your cells. I find blue/green algae to be the best at this, but Chlorella is a cheaper reasonably effective alternative. Mint tea throughout the day can suffice at this as well, I just like the added sustenance that comes from the green sups.
This plan, if done properly, will cause your body to elevate it's Ph and reject metals and toxins that it has held onto for years. When it does this you will feel very weird and could even feel sick if you aren't keeping up on your elimination support plan of Senna Tea, Salt flush, and chlorophyl/mint. If you do the whole thing for the whole 10 days you will feel like a new person capable of anything. This cleanse changed my life and I know it can help give us the motivation and confidence to continue improving our experience in these bodies of ours!
